REMEMBER WHEN
Remember when you could still buy sweets and things for just one cent
Now we don’t even have a one cent piece to buy sweets or anything
Remember when we were stationed outside to play games with friends
Now the kids have a station as their friend and they play games inside
Remember when cakes, sweets, chips, drinks was for special occasions
Now it’s as if every meal we prepare has become a special occasion
Remember when the family sat around the table to eat, talk, and laugh
Now we sit around the television on the table to eat, sleep, and forget
Remember when families would play in the surf or picnic on the greens
Now one golf’s the greens, one surfs the net or play in the casino
Remember when a letter to Santa was for a doll, car, train set or teaset
Now we can just sms our Parents for cell, car, computer, air ticket or TV set
Remember when sports was just a game some would play and some would watch
Now it’s a business you would have to pay to watch or you get paid to play
Remember when “beach-wear” was clothes you wore at the beach
Now with the clothes we wear we will have to ask, “ where is the beach?”
Remember when you could just visit without having to notify anybody
Now you have to let everybody make a note of when you are visiting
Remember when we would make the wonderful memories
Now we only remember the wonderful memories we made
(This poem I wrote when technology hit us so hard that our lifestyles changed so dramatically)
