AN UNBORN BABY’S CRY
I speak from a very safe place they say
I’m in my mother’s womb, conceived one blessed day
I’ve been formed by God and I’m now a person
I can feel, I can move and I lay here and listen
Every move my mother makes, I can feel
I don’t worry; she must be preparing my meal
I hear her laugh, I hear her sigh
I sense her sadness, I hear her cry
But I know she’s my mom no harm will come
I just peacefully lay here and suck my thumb
I know I’m not a mistake and need not fear
God has planned my life and watches over me here
Mother I long to see your face, your smile
But I’m not ready to be born yet, not for a while
I sense there is trouble in this place of rest
I feel such terrible pain; I am in great distress
Oh mother why am I being hurt, Oh why?
I’m not ready for the world, I will surely die
This is not God’s way, I’m a person, I’m whole
Oh mother you destroy my body but not my soul
This Poem "An Unborn Baby's Cry" was written when the abortion laws was passed and it was really a sad day as the sanctity of life of the voiceless young was ignored.
